It’s no secret; blogging can seem pretty futile. Whether you’re a Content Manager, an independent writer, or just an intern, posting blog after blog can get redundant, and you might often ask yourself, “What am I doing here? Why am I doing this? What is the meaning of life?” Ok, maybe you don’t get that deep, but regardless, you probably wonder what the point is.
Luckily, we’re here to tell you that blogging isn’t pointless! There are many benefits to blogging, and it can do some great things for your site (or else we wouldn’t have written this blog). Read on, get refreshed, and blog with fervor in the new year knowing how much it’s going to help your site!
One of the main reasons to blog is to establish yourself as an expert in your field. Through detailed and concise blog posts, you can create published content that readers will trust. Make sure your passion comes through when writing and be sure that what you’re posting is correct – you don’t want to turn into one of those crazy conspiracy bloggers.
Share Your Knowledge
Once you’ve established yourself as an expert, you can share your knowledge. That’s what’s so great about blogs – they’re easy and fun to share. Keep your blogs succinct, filled with shareable tidbits of your awesome knowledge, and readers will be compelled to share it. You share with your readers, they share it with friends, and those friends share it — soon enough, you’re attending conferences as the keynote speaker because everyone knows you’re such an expert.
Here’s where it gets good. All those people reading your blog, that’s traffic for your site. As your traffic grows, you should do your best to convert that traffic into leads (see next subsection).
Each visitor to your blog is a conversion opportunity. To really boost your chances of converting, be sure to add compelling calls to action to your blogs. Those calls to action can be a blog subscription, a newsletter signup, whitepaper downloads – anything you think is compelling to your readers.
Post Timely Content Quickly
Last, but certainly not least, blogs are a great way to get timely info and content out quickly. Not every bit of content warrants a page on your site, but that doesn’t mean it’s not important or that you don’t want to post about it. With a blog, you can give your two cents without a long-term commitment or restructuring of your site.
We hope this little post helps to refresh your blogging passion for the new year. If not, don’t worry. Reach out to the blogging experts here at OppMax today, and we’ll be passionate about blogging so you don’t have to!
